Symitar Systems Analyst

 

Job Description:

With over $200 million in assets, POPA Federal Credit Union primarily serves Los Angeles County peace officers that are affiliated with one of six unions associated with the Credit Union. POPA FCU provides a full range of financial services and excellent career opportunities.

Due to our continued success and growth, we are currently seeking a full-time Symitar Systems Analyst for our Cerritos office. The primary function of the Symitar Systems Analyst is to conduct and coordinate the analysis, design, integration testing, and implementation of information systems to meet the institution’s and end-user’s requirements, and provides end-user support of host-based systems by performing the following duties.

 

Duties:

  • Responsible for managing and creating business applications used to improve efficiencies and accuracy related to the Symitar Systems database, PowerOn programming, day-end, month-end and year-end processes.  Works with vendors and 3rd party software programs to ensure proper integration of the Symitar System.
  • Acts in a consultative capacity to other business units and departments.  Works closely with end-user clients to understand their business needs and to help them leverage the appropriate technology and services that provide the greatest and most efficient return on investment.
  • Reviews members’ requirements, requests, desires and problems on a regular basis and communicates them to the appropriate POPA FCU personnel.  Advises the member on the use of the organization’s products and services to maximize their use of, and satisfaction with, the organization’s products and services.
  • Provides general problem determination and resolution as well as end-user support on all host applications and operating system.
  • Assists in the development of host system related release upgrades, new/revised modules, and general system implementation plans.
  • Performs configuring and testing of new/revised systems, modules, and applications of all software and hardware components to ensure problems are defined and resolved before implementation.
  • Ensures effective use of system features and functions by working with vendor, internal training department and functional users.
  • Conducts a full range of programming tasks, including program design, program coding, debugging and documentation.
  • Provides data extraction and data downloads from host systems; develops reports and, using relational database tools and technologies, populates data marts/data warehouse.
  • Monitors effective hardware utilization:  Reviews system jobs for optimum throughput.
  • Backups the daytime system administrator and/or evening system administrator.
  • Periodically drives to disaster recovery site in Arizona.
  • Performs all other duties/tasks as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent in Computer Science from four year college; plus four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience on Symitar’s Episys system and PowerOn (Repgen).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents produced by the data processing system, operating and maintenance before groups of managers, employees, or directors of organization.
