POPA Federal Credit Union was formed in 1978 by PPOA (Professional Peace Officers Association) to provide not-for-profit financial products and services exclusively to fellow peace officers with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

In July 2020, POPA FCU expanded our membership eligibility to all employees of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department , all employees of the Los Angeles County Probation Department, retired pensioners of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and retired pensioners of the Los Angeles County Probation Department.

Credit Union membership also extends to PPOA family members and other professional law enforcement associations such as, ALADS (Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs), LASPA (Los Angeles Sheriff’s Professional Association), HAPCOA (Hispanic American Police Command Officers Association), and FOP (Fraternal Order of Police).

2018 marks our 40th anniversary as your Credit Union and we continue to proudly and exclusively serve LASD, law enforcement and their families. POPA FCU takes great pride in being able to provide low-cost deposit and loan products to our member-owners, helping them to build savings and access credit. As a democratically-owned and controlled institution, POPA FCU believes in the philosophy of “people helping people” and all organizational decisions are made with our members’ best interests in mind.
